Absent in 25 g — no tolerance

Powder that goes into smoothies or food without a kill step is a ready-to-eat food. Under Reg. (EC) 2073/2005 a positive result on a lot is a recall event.

Steam or irradiation

Sterilisation method

Steam is common and effective but can darken colour and reduce heat-sensitive compounds. Irradiation preserves colour and nutrients better; EU imports require mandatory labelling.

No ETO for the EU

ETO fumigation is effectively prohibited for EU-bound food; the 2020–2021 RASFF crisis triggered mass recalls and emergency measures.
